Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Our community works best when people share experience generously, ask thoughtful questions, and treat each other with respect. These Community Guidelines apply to all Velynk features — including the feed, discussion threads, live rooms, messages, reviews, profiles, and sessions.

Violations may result in content removal, feature restrictions, or account suspension under our Terms of Service.

Our community purpose

Velynk exists to help students and alumni learn from real-world experience. Good contributions are specific, honest, and oriented toward helping others make better decisions — not guaranteeing outcomes.

Expected behavior

  • Share from experience — Describe what worked for you, what you learned, and relevant context. Avoid presenting personal opinions as universal facts.
  • Be respectful — Disagree with ideas, not people. No personal attacks, bullying, or demeaning language.
  • Protect privacy — Do not share another person's contact details, private messages, or confidential employer information without permission.
  • Stay on topic — Keep threads and session discussions relevant to the question or session purpose.
  • Give credit — Respect intellectual property. Do not copy substantial content without attribution or rights.
  • Use verification honestly — Do not misrepresent your school, employment, alumni status, or credentials.

Prohibited content and conduct

The following are not allowed on Velynk:

CategoryExamples
SpamRepetitive promotion, irrelevant links, fake engagement, or scraping
HarassmentThreats, stalking, slurs, targeted insults, or intimidation
MisinformationDeliberately false credentials, fake session listings, or deceptive advice intended to mislead
Inappropriate contentSexual content involving minors, gratuitous violence, or otherwise unsafe material
ImpersonationPretending to be another person, alumni, institution, or Velynk staff
Harmful mentorshipDiscriminatory hiring advice, encouragement of illegal activity, or sharing exam/interview content that violates academic or employer rules

This list is not exhaustive. Use the report tools if you see behavior that undermines community safety.

Mentorship-specific guidance

  • Mentors share perspective, not professional guarantees. Students should verify important decisions independently.
  • Do not use Velynk to solicit payments outside approved platform flows.
  • Session hosts should honor scheduled times or communicate changes promptly through platform channels.
  • Reviews should reflect genuine session experiences — not retaliation or promotional manipulation.

Visibility and audience

Some content may be visible to public, alumni-only, or private audiences depending on author settings and feature context. Think before you post — even alumni-only content should follow these Guidelines.

Reporting problems

If you see content or behavior that violates these Guidelines:

  1. Use the Report option on threads, replies, profiles, reviews, or live room participants where available
  2. Select the reason that best matches the issue (spam, harassment, misinformation, inappropriate content, or other)
  3. Add helpful context in the description field

You can also open a support ticket for urgent or complex situations.

Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We may take action without notifying reporters of specific outcomes, to protect privacy and safety.

Enforcement

Depending on severity and history, we may:

  • Remove or hide content
  • Issue warnings or temporary feature limits
  • Revoke verification badges
  • Suspend or permanently ban accounts
  • Escalate to law enforcement where required

We aim to enforce consistently, but context matters. Attempts to evade enforcement (new accounts, alternate identities) may result in stronger action.

Appeals

If you believe enforcement action was taken in error, contact support@alumsage.com with your account email and a clear explanation. We will review in a reasonable time.
