These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Velynk at alumsage.com and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By creating an account or using Velynk, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Note: This is a draft agreement. It should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before public launch.
1. Agreement and eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Velynk. If you are between 16 and 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian where required by local law.
You agree that registration information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it updated. You are responsible for activity under your account and for safeguarding your credentials.
2. What Velynk is — and is not
Velynk is a platform that helps students and alumni connect for mentorship, community discussion, and career-related learning. We provide tools for discovery, booking, messaging, live rooms, reviews, and related features.
Velynk is not:
- A university, employer, recruiter, or placement agency
- A provider of legal, medical, financial, or other licensed professional services
- A guarantor of employment, admission, interview outcomes, or any specific career result
Mentorship on Velynk reflects individual experience and opinions. You should use your own judgment and seek qualified professionals when appropriate.
3. Accounts, roles, and verification
You may register as a student or alumni/mentor (or receive an alumni invite). Role selection affects available features. Some features require additional verification, such as email and phone confirmation, LinkedIn verification for alumni, or school affiliation confirmation.
Verification badges indicate that certain checks were completed — not that Velynk guarantees identity, credentials, or the quality of advice. We may revoke badges or suspend accounts if information is inaccurate or misleading.
4. User content
You retain ownership of content you submit (posts, messages, reviews, profile information, session descriptions, etc.). You grant Velynk a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content as needed to operate and improve the Platform, consistent with your visibility settings and applicable law.
You represent that you have the rights to post your content and that it does not violate these Terms or third-party rights.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Velynk. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation:
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or discrimination
- Spam, deceptive promotion, or unauthorized commercial solicitation
- Sharing false, misleading, or impersonated identity information
- Posting content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights
- Attempting to access accounts or data without authorization
- Circumventing safety, verification, or moderation systems
Detailed expectations appear in our Community Guidelines. We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts for violations.
6. Sessions, bookings, and cancellations
Velynk facilitates scheduling between students and hosts. Session times, formats, and external meeting links are set by hosts or platform configuration.
Cancellations: For accepted bookings, students generally must cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled session start time unless otherwise stated at booking. Late cancellations or no-shows may affect booking privileges.
Hosts and students are expected to attend scheduled sessions in good faith. Velynk is not responsible for third-party video or conferencing tools used to deliver sessions.
7. Payments, refunds, and disputes
Some sessions require payment processed through Razorpay. By paying, you also agree to the applicable payment provider's terms.
- Session pricing is set by the mentor in their payout currency (USD for US-based mentors, INR for India-based mentors). Converted prices may be displayed for informational purposes, but the charge is always in the mentor's payout currency.
- Platform commission: A percentage of each session's gross revenue is retained by Velynk as a platform fee. The commission rate is disclosed in the Mentor Agreement.
- Velynk acts as a platform facilitating transactions between participants and mentors; we are not a bank or money transmitter
- Refunds: Refund eligibility depends on session status, cancellation timing, and review of the facts. Submit payment concerns through support with category Payment/Refund
- Unauthorized chargebacks or payment abuse may result in account suspension
- Mentor payouts: Mentors receive bi-weekly payouts per the Mentor Agreement terms
Refund decisions are made in our reasonable discretion consistent with these Terms and applicable law.
8. Reviews and ratings
Reviews help the community assess mentorship experiences. Reviews must be honest and based on your genuine experience. You may not post retaliatory, defamatory, or incentivized reviews.
Alumni may respond to reviews on their profiles. We may remove reviews that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
9. Third-party services
Velynk integrates with third-party services including authentication (Firebase/Google), payment processors, email/SMS providers, and external meeting platforms. Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.
10. Termination
You may stop using Velynk at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for users or the Platform, or where required by law. Provisions that by nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute terms) will survive.
11. Disclaimers
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VELYNK AND ITS AFFILIATES DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT USER CONTENT OR MENTORSHIP ADVICE WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VELYNK AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE PLATFORM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID VELYNK IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100), EXCEPT WHERE SUCH LIMITATIONS ARE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Velynk and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Platform, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Governing law and disputes
United States users: These Terms are governed by the laws of [State, USA], excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will first be addressed through good-faith support channels. Where permitted, you and Velynk agree to resolve disputes through binding arbitration in [City, State], except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property or unauthorized access.
India users: These Terms are also subject to applicable laws of India. You may contact our grievance officer at grievance@alumsage.com for concerns under Indian law. Courts in [City, India] shall have jurisdiction for matters not subject to arbitration, subject to mandatory consumer protections.
Before formal proceedings, please contact legal@alumsage.com so we can attempt to resolve the issue informally.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires explicit consent.
